Haldron the Dirge-Stringer - The Gravebound Reliquary Bowmen

Haldron the Dirge-Stringer was a vault-cantor before he was an archer, and he has never accepted that the two should be considered separate vocations. The bowstring at his shoulder is tuned. He spends the hours before a fight bringing it to pitch the way he once brought the vault-bells to pitch, and the release of an arrow, in Haldron's understanding, is not a shot but a note: the final note of a name being entered into the Reliquary's permanent record.

He does not loose in volleys. He conducts. The cohort has learned to take their cues from him on the open field as they once took their cues from him in the cantor's gallery, and when Haldron lowers his bow at the end of an engagement, the battlefield is, by his careful arrangement, as silent as a finished hymn.
